Apple and Microsoft don't make fonts. You'd have to talk Adobe or
Monotype or someone like that to donate fonts.

And Apple, at least, has a renderer that everyone can use -- on a
Mac. :-) Displaying text is part of how we make money, and it would be
difficult to convince our management to give up part of our revenue stream
like that.

OTOH FreeType is, I hear, working on OpenType support.
