1. Many characters on the alphabets presented at Michael Everson site
are surrounded by (round) parenthesis.
What is the general meaning of the (round) parenthesis on those files?
2. The French alphabet (same site) includes the "N capital/small letter
with tilde" surrounded by (round) parenthesis.
How important is this character for the French language? I have not
found any reference for this character elsewhere (well, after a
moderate search).
3. The German alphabet (same site) lists characters "[A, O and U] with
diaersesis" surrounded by (round) parenthesis.
Why is that ? As far as I know, these characters are live and well in
German language. Or ... ?
