Fortunately, Unicode doesn't have to get caught up in the legal
quicksand surrounding these letterlike symbols. If they are in wide
enough use, then they are suitable candidates for encoding. And if it's
true that the MC and MD symbols are not in wide enough use, then they
aren't.
