Pr. Dr. Werner König (who created the symbol x with long leg, etc.)
confirmed that what is being used in TeuTEX is really a "dialectology
chi" directly from the Teuthonista journal's transcription, and not a
newly created symbol from stretching Latin x like assumed in the
proposal N4106 that was accepted or in N4081. Furthermore among
several glyph designs, the Latinized Greek chi is the preferred form
for Pr. Dr. König.
The symbol x with long leg is really a symbol between chi and x,
created to represent a sound in between what these last two represent.
What is now in DAM1 under the name LATIN SMALL LETTER STRETCHED X is
really the LATIN SMALL LETTER CHI being proposed in N4262. The name
stretched x can mislead to think it is not.
Is it still possible to change the names of the following characters in DAM1?
AB53 LATIN SMALL LETTER STRETCHED X
AB54 LATIN SMALL LETTER STRETCHED X WITH LOW RIGHT RING
AB55 LATIN SMALL LETTER STRETCHED X WITH LOW LEFT SERIF
For the following:
AB53 LATIN SMALL LETTER CHI
AB54 LATIN SMALL LETTER CHI WITH LOW RIGHT RING
AB55 LATIN SMALL LETTER CHI WITH LOW LEFT SERIF
Can their glyphs be replaced with some based on a Latinized Greek chi?
I've drafted a request to change their character names and glyphs:
