Common Locale Data Repository - Using the Survey Tool to Expand Language Coverage
The CLDR DDL (Digitally Disadvantaged Language) group is interesting in getting more language and more data into CLDR so we can support more languages and continue the process to get languages on digital services. This workshop will serve as an introduction for new people to CLDR, the Survey Tool, and end with a discussion on how we can use it to serve DDLs and downstream users of the data. The workshop will have 3 sections:
- Overview of what the Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR) is, coverage levels, kinds of data (20 min).
- Interactive tutorial on how to contribute to the CLDR using the Survey Tool: signing up, adding a new locale, adding new data, voting on existing data (40 min).
- Call for ideas from attendees on ways to improve CLDR: more languages, more data that other companies can use, etc (20 min).
