Art Nouveau Walk
Art Nouveau Walk, Wednesday 21 Oct.
16:30—19:00
Since the 20th century, Nancy has been a major center of Art Nouveau in France. There are several key places to visit during your stay, so we offer an Art Nouveau Walk—while it is self-guided, we will be delighted to show you some of the city’s hidden gems.
The meeting point is on the ground floor of Ensad Nancy at 4:30 PM. From there, we will walk along rue Félix Faure, home to numerous Art Nouveau villas, before reaching the Musée de l’École de Nancy (School of Nancy Museum). You can use the official app online (available in English, German and French) with your headphones to learn about the history of this local Art Nouveau movement.
Nancy is renowned for its macarons and bergamotes—candies flavored with bergamot essential oil. After visiting the museum, we will head downtown to sample them at the Maison des Sœurs Macarons.
We will conclude our walk at the Musée des Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts Museum), which on this day is hosting the opening of an exhibition on Émile Gallé—one of the key figures of the Nancy Art Nouveau movement.
Please note that regular entry to the Musée de l’École de Nancy is €7.50 and is not included with the conference ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the museum entrance. Admission to the Musée des Beaux-Arts is free during the exhibition opening.
Use the digital map to discover all of Nancy’s Art Nouveau treasures.
