Breaking Borders, Not UI: Auditing Global UX with Pangæa
To truly bring software to the world, it needs to work flawlessly for everyone, everywhere. This session introduces Pangæa, an open-source, publicly-available auditing tool created at Docusign that empowers software developers and product managers to check if their application is truly global ready. Pangæa runs directly in the browser to analyze the user interface, giving teams a real-time status check on their app’s international quality. It ensures that when software reaches a global audience, the user experience remains seamless across different scripts, languages and locales. The Pangæa engine can also be run using automated testing. The session will demonstrate how Pangæa visually surfaces critical globalization issues, including but not limited to: - UI Layout & Overflow: Identifying text expansion bugs, like translated strings overflowing buttons or cards. - RTL Support: Instantly testing right-to-left layout alignment for scripts like Arabic and Hebrew. - Input & Locale Handling: Ensuring smooth interaction with Input Method Editors (IMEs) and accurate locale-aware text sorting. Perfectly matching the theme Unicode in the World, this talk demonstrates a practical way for product creators to visually verify their global user experience, ensuring their software is truly prepared for the global stage.
