Greek tonos question

Warning: possibly dumb Greek question follows !:-)

Since written (typeset) Greek has TONOS markers that slant like the
ACUTE and GRAVE, can the pitch of the TONOS be determined by simple
contextual analysis or do native readers infer the pitch from context?

In short, is this an NLP problem, typesetting problem or does Unicode
need two TONOS codepoints?

Any info appreciated!

Thanks.
