However, this argument is leading away from character encoding to font
design. And aiming for highest quality font design, the fonts need to be
tuned for the language which they are used with. An example is the design
of capital letters for german fonts: Since they are far more abundant than
in other languages, they should be less prominent than in a typical anglo-
american font. Also ligatures and kerning pairs depent on the frequency of
letter combinations.
