I had no trouble using Mac Internet Explorer 3.01, Netscape Communicator
4.0, Anarchie, Fetch, or ftp'ing manually from a Unix host. Here's the
Unix transcript:
Name (ftp.unicode.org:goldsmit): anonymous
331 Guest log in, send Email address (user@host) as password.
Password:
230-Welcome to the Unicode Consortium's ftp site.
230 Anonymous login to 2 volumes. Access restrictions apply. "/Public".
Remote system type is MACOS.
ftp> dir /
200 PORT command successful.
150 ASCII transfer started.
drwxrwxr-x folder 26 Jul 26 09:03 www.unicode.org
drwxrwxr-x folder 12 Jul 26 12:00 Public
226 Transfer complete.
ftp> pwd
257 "/Public" PWD command successful.
ftp> cd /
250 "/" cd successful.
ftp> dir
200 PORT command successful.
150 ASCII transfer started.
drwxrwxr-x folder 26 Jul 26 09:03 www.unicode.org
drwxrwxr-x folder 12 Jul 26 12:00 Public
226 Transfer complete.
ftp>
I didn't have any trouble with any of the clients. Could you try to find
out more about why it's failing? Unfortunately, Netscape doesn't seem to
have any way to display a transcript of an FTP session.
