Michael,

the book is 1100 pages, and it explains both font formats and applications
(even specific localized versions) in notable detail. Yet, I felt that it
failed to provide the "link" between those two areas.

I want to get Nissus Writer for Mac, or Word 2001 for Mac, or Word 2002 for
Windows, or whatever else. Can I or can I not use (a) an Adobe CID-keyed
font and/or (b) a Microsoft TTC font? I think this is a rather somewhat
important question to the vast majority of people (to know what fonts are
suitable for the system they are using). Not even to developers, but to
regular users.

You mean, I should have been sending my questions in smaller chunks, one-two
specific questions per day, and post the next question just after I have
received answers to the previous one? Thank you, but I will not consider
such a practice in future, even if it could prove more ""efficient"".

Yes, the list of my questions was long, but only because, after reading
Ken's book, I was left with huge pieces of information, but had serious
problem in arranging them in a particular way. I learned a lot from the book
(as I learned from yours). I hope you understand that if Ken's book provided
me with sufficient information, I wouldn't post my questions here. It was a
huge book, so the list of open topics was long.

Why? There are excellent overviews on various topics.

In fact, the site http://www.yale.edu/chinesemac (link provided by Tom
Gewecke, thank you very much) seemed to have answered about 40% of my
questions. But I simply could not find it myself.

I may have failed to stress that I am NOT expecting a complete answer from
one single person.

Partial responses to any particular questions (for example "(...) CID fonts
(out of 1, 3 listed above)? What ATM is required if any?" or any other) are
more than welcome, or simply links to useful references. I used to assume
(and still do so) that there are specialists on that list who might be
willing to respond on just one or two items from my list -- because that
would happen to be their specialty area.
