Well, it isn't discouraged, if that's what you (and other
Y.R. Chao specialists) decide is appropriate.
This might be it, if the rationale is an abbreviation of "o"ptional.
But I'd be more inclined to U+2080 SUBSCRIPT ZERO is more
likely as an iconic representation of the neutral tone.
