The enhanced image in the newspaper article has a part where there is a letter or abbreviation that I do not know, followed by the sequence of letters thelene that I had not met before.
I tried searching for thelene at http://www.google.com and found a link to the following web page.

So maybe the inscription refers to either the abbey of thelene or to someone "of thelene"?
I searched at http://maps.google.com for thelene and was offered "Tellène, Guénin, Morbihan, Brittany, France". That may possibly, but need not, be the same place.
