I forgot. What if the code page is tagged as 8859-1 but is actually 1252
(as is teh case for WinEudora latest French version commercially available)?

Btw WinEudora 4.2 does not seem to know what to do when it receives a
header tagged 1252 (say, by Outlook, the typical case)... even if it is its
native codepage!!! Personally, my most frequent horror stories come from this.
