For which reason software vendors will be doing their users a service by

- refraining from assuming any proprietary PUA semantics as much as
possible (you might e.g. provide a font with special symbols like company
logos that you present at specific places in your app's UI, but if at all
possible don't assume that that codepoint when encountered in user data has
that same meaning), and

- by providing clear and easy-to-find documentation of what semantics are
being assumed when their software does make any assumptions.
