There certainly are varieties other than that of Taiwan. Not only
are there many dialects of Fujian grouped under the "Min Nan"
heading, all of them rather different from each other and from the
language spoken in Taiwan, but also Southern Min speakers are
especially widely dispersed, with significant communities throughout
much of Southeast Asia--in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia,
etc.
